Eric Raffy

Eric Raffy is a distinguished French architect and designer, celebrated for his minimalist approach that seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship. A graduate of the École Camondo, he founded his design studio in 1986, quickly gaining recognition for projects such as the Clinton Hotel in Miami and the Paco Rabanne boutique in Paris. His design philosophy is deeply influenced by his extensive travels in Asia, particularly Japan, where he developed a profound appreciation for simplicity and precision.

In 1992, Raffy collaborated with Forge de Laguiole to create a contemporary interpretation of the classic Laguiole knife. His design, featuring a sleek black acrylic handle and a high-polished finish, was awarded the Blade Magazine Award for Most Innovative Design at the Atlanta Cutlery Show, marking a significant moment in the evolution of Laguiole knives.

Raffy's contribution to Forge de Laguiole's Signature collections includes table knives and folding knives, each embodying his commitment to elegance and functionality. The black acrylic handles, complemented by high-polish finishes, offer a modern yet timeless appeal, making them suitable for both contemporary and traditional settings.

Through his collaboration with Forge de Laguiole, Eric Raffy has reimagined the Laguiole knife, infusing it with a refined, minimalist design that honours its heritage while introducing a fresh perspective. His work continues to inspire and influence the world of luxury design, reflecting a harmonious balance between tradition and innovation.
