For a handle that offers an immediate tactile connection to nature, Ram Horn is an exceptional choice. While many materials are prized for their smoothness, Ram Horn is celebrated for its character. It is rugged, masculine and deeply textured, offering a grip that feels alive in the hand.

Visually, this material is defined by its famous "ridges." To showcase this unique structure, the handle is shaped with a flat surface, the same technique used for our Aubrac Cow Horn and Fossilised Oak Bark. This allows you to see and feel the natural ripples, cracks, and colour variations (ranging from translucent ambers to deep browns) that make every single handle a one-of-a-kind sculpture.

Where can it be found? This material is sourced from the curved horns of domestic rams. Unlike the smooth horns of cattle, ram horns grow in a distinct spiral pattern with heavy external ridges, providing the material with its signature rough look.

Where else is it used? Ram horn has been a tool of humanity for thousands of years. Its hollow, spiral shape made it the original amplifier; it is historically known as the material for the "Shofar," a musical horn used in ancient and religious ceremonies. It is also a traditional material for the handles of shepherd's crooks and high-end walking sticks due to its ergonomic curve and durability.

Did you know? The ridges on a Ram's horn are essentially a biography of the animal. Unlike deer antlers, which are shed and regrown every year, a ram keeps its horns for life. The horn grows continuously and the deep ridges often correspond to seasonal changes or periods of nutritional stress, acting much like the growth rings in a tree.
