Forge de Laguiole is proud to present this exceptional knife — a true expression of ancestral craftsmanship, born in the village of Laguiole and now protected by the official Couteau de Laguiole geographical indication. This state label certifies that every stage of its creation follows strict specifications, in a defined region, according to traditional methods handed down through generations.
Each knife is made entirely at the Forge de Laguiole workshop — from the forging of the French steel blade to the final polish of the handle — by their master cutlers in Laguiole, France.
This unique model reflects the enduring commitment to authenticity and excellence. Its 12 cm handle is crafted from fossilised oak — over 5,000 years old, recovered from the Rhine River — a noble wood shaped by time itself. The blade, hot-forged from French steel, delivers exceptional sharpness and cutting precision.
True to the origins of the Laguiole knife, this piece replaces the traditional shepherd’s cross with an ancient diamond-shaped motif — a detail once seen on the earliest knives made for farmers. Above the blade, the Saint Andrew’s cross is finely chiselled, echoing the earliest designs of Laguiole knives.
Forge de Laguiole only uses natural materials, each knife is unique. Variations in colour, grain, and texture are part of its story. The photos shown are for reference only. The size refers to the knife in its closed position.
Every Forge de Laguiole knife is handmade in Laguiole, France, following the traditional methods established in 1828.
